The Kilgore family plot in Greenwood Cemetery marks the final resting place for Nathan F. Kilgore, Joe Mark and Gertrude M. Kilgore, James, Robert, Herbert and Violet, and W. Sherwood and Doris. Dr. Herbert Kilgore’s will provided a life estate for Violet and bequests to others. After Violet’s death, the remainder of the life estate was passed on to several institutions. The Kilgore Memorial Library Foundation was a major beneficiary of this bequest; the proceeds were distributed in the closing months of 2008.
