February 10, 2007:
Note: The work is a two-act musical comedy. The original manuscript is displayed at York’s Anna Bemis Palmer Museum. Only song No. 4 in Act 2 has a title; the opening words of the other songs are given in lieu of titles. The manuscript includes an Overture with orchestral score, leading into a four-part choral arrangement of the opening song, “If you’re wanting information...” The alternate opening has “If you’re wanting information..” as a four-part chorus with soprano solo.
Even though the work was apparently performed at least once by Parks’ students, the manuscript includes some additional and alternate songs and song fragments indicating a work in progress. One character’s name appears to have been changed.
