Octavo Numbers 1,000 - 1,199

Listings with expanded information about copyright date, lyricist, composer, arranger, etc. are based on Octavo copies we’ve actually seen, the equivalent piece in one or more books, or detailed cataloging from other libraries. Dates in parentheses are taken from the song’s appearance in the books.

Parks apparently updated printing and publishing arrangements for the music over time. Seemingly anomalous dates such as the 1931 copyright on octavo no. 61 reflect a re-setting that condensed the song from three pages to two. Musically the 1931 arrangement is identical to the 1896 original. Similarly, Octavo No. 79 was reset from 6 pages to four and re-copyrighted in 1914.

Oct. 2010: Kilgore Memorial Library has begun loading J.A. Parks Music Company songs on to FLICKR. Page number links appearing with a title connect to images in FLICKR. A “clickable Link” in the 8vo. # column leads to a digitized example we’ve located in another digitized source; a multi-colored “swirl” links to a catalog entry in WorldCat.

Kilgore Memorial Library owns an original or photocopy of the octavos marked with “  ♦  .”   A “ ♥ ” indicates the same piece’s availability in a book in the library’s collection.     A separate   table   provides a checklist of octavos at the York County Historical Association as of October 2010.

Please use our “link box” and related searching tips to navigate within the J.A. PARKS songs lists.
