![]() | Julia conceived the original design, mixed the acrylic colors for the different sections, and provided instruction in technique and overall direction to participants. Children (and adults) attending ART THINGY 2010 were urged to participate by adding “dots” of color to the design.
Julia’s original design was transferred to a three-by-three foot plywood square painted light blue. Pencil erasers were used to “point” dots of color. Closely spaced dots provide outlines for the basic forms in the design, and “random” dots within those outlines generate the shades and tones within. From a distance the dots “blend,” but are clearly visible as discrete colors as one gets closer to the painting. |
