PUBLIC ACCESS COMPUTERSSeveral computer workstations at Kilgore Memorial Library are open to the public. No library card is needed. Time limits and other use limits may be imposed to maximize service. The library does maintain a sign-in system to track usage. The system does not record identifying information about any individual using a public computer. Most public access computers have a complement of commonly used software. To safeguard the machines from accidental or intentional tampering, file saves and download to the hard drives are disabled. In compliance with the terms of the Children’s Internet Protection Act, internet content filtering is employed on the library’s public access computers. The library’s usage guidelines for public computer use include prohibition of illegal activities and accessing illegal content. Public access computer users are reminded they are in a public facility and to be considerate of others. | ![]() |
